Terms of Use

Signumb is a phone-only driving quality project. It uses the open-source Harshy SDK. These terms cover this website and Signumb. They are not legal advice.

1. The project

Signumb is maintained as an independent open-source project, not as a registered company. “We” and “us” mean the project maintainers and contributors. There is no operating company, registry code, VAT number, or registered office behind this site.

Driving analysis uses the Harshy SDK: github.com/vkrv/harshy-sdk. Questions and reports: GitHub issues.

2. Agreement

By using this website you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. The Harshy SDK is licensed under the MIT License in that repository’s LICENSE file. If that file conflicts with these Terms for the SDK code itself, the MIT License prevails for the code.

3. The software

Signumb is the driving app for Android and iOS. It uses Harshy to score a drive from phone GPS and motion. Capture and scoring run on the phone. Trips stay on the device. There is no Signumb account, and trip files are not uploaded to a server we operate.

Another app may embed the Harshy SDK. An UploadAdapter lets that host send a session to a server the host controls. That server is not operated by this project.

4. Licence (MIT)

The Harshy SDK is made available under the MIT License. Subject to that license, you may use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and sell copies of the software. Published package names remain @harshy/*; the public product name is Signumb.

You may not:

remove copyright or licence notices required by the MIT License;
present Signumb or Harshy as a certified crash, medical, or emergency system;
attribute external driving hardware (tags, OBD, beacons, dashcams, telematics boxes) to Signumb or Harshy.

5. Acceptable use of this website

You must not misuse this website, including by attempting unauthorised access, disrupting service, or using detector output to make automated safety-critical decisions that a reasonable engineer would not rest on a phone-sensor heuristic.

6. Host-app responsibilities

You are responsible for OS permission prompts, background and foreground behaviour, store disclosures, and your own privacy notice. If you attach an upload adapter or otherwise transmit session data, you are the controller (or processor, as applicable) for that transmission. Do not imply that the Signumb project operates your collector.

7. No emergency or crash-detection service

Possible-impact is an on-device heuristic for a crash-like jolt. It is not verified crash detection, not a 112 / 911 trigger, not FNOL, and not a score penalty. Direction labels are limited (front / rear / rollover / unknown). Do not market or rely on it as a safety device, insurance claim, or emergency calling feature.

Road quality is a pavement roughness measure. Phone-handheld is a handling span. Neither is a crash signal.

8. Contributions and feedback

Session recordings you capture in your app remain yours. This project does not collect them. Feedback and contributions you submit (including GitHub issues and pull requests) may be used to improve the project under the same MIT License, without further obligation to you.

9. No warranty

The site, Signumb, and the Harshy SDK are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted availability, detector accuracy on every road and mount, or that events match a human assessment of a drive.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the authors and contributors are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost data, or loss arising from a host app’s upload, scoring display, or driving decisions. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence where that limit is forbidden.

11. Changes

These Terms may be updated by posting a new version on this page. The “Last updated” date changes when we do. Continued use of the site after that date is acceptance of the new Terms.
